For me, January is all about looking at animals in a new light—whether it’s noticing how soft winter light highlights fur or the personality that shines through a mischievous glint in an animal’s eye. It’s a time to experiment, step outside my comfort zone, and let creativity flow.

If you’re feeling the new-year energy too, why not try something new? Whether it’s sketching your pet, observing wildlife, or simply celebrating the animals in your life, there’s so much inspiration to be found in the natural world.

Stay tuned for more of my journey as I balance my primate collection with these exciting new projects. And if you’d like a custom portrait of your furry or feathered friend, let me know—I’d love to help bring their story to life this year!

Here’s to a creative and inspiring 2025!

January always feels like a blank canvas—full of potential and fresh ideas. As an animal artist, this time of year inspires me to reflect on my work and try something new. While I’m continuing my primate collection, I’ve also decided to explore other animals, starting with a raccoon! This piece was inspired by a fantastic reference photo from Mark Luther Photos, and it’s been such a fun challenge to capture the raccoon’s curious, playful expression.
