Over the Moon! My Artwork Selected for the Society of Women Artists Exhibition 2025

I can’t quite believe I’m writing this, but my artwork Did Someone Say Treats? has been selected for the Society of Women Artists 164th Annual Exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London, 24th-28th June. This was my first time entering, and to say I’m over the moon would be an understatement. The standard of work in this exhibition is incredibly amazing, so to have my piece chosen feels like a huge honour.

Interestingly, I’ve also been working on my meditation practice, visualising my work in this exhibition. Being someone who believes in energy and quantum physics, I’m even more convinced now that this has helped me!

I honestly can’t believe my work will be hanging alongside such incredibly talented artists. It’s a real pinch-me moment! If you fancy seeing the exhibition, it’s open to the public from June 24th to 28th at the Mall Galleries. I’ll also be sharing updates on my social media, so keep an eye out!

Thanks for all your support—it means the world!

This portrait of our little dog, Bella - titled “Did Someone Say Treats?” - actually started as a bit of an experiment. I decided to try Velour paper for the first time—something I’d heard mixed reviews about. Turns out, I absolutely loved the painterly feel of working with soft pastels directly on the surface. It allowed for such a rich, blended effect that I really enjoyed. That said, I did quickly learn why some artists don’t get along with this paper—pastel pencils don’t grip to it very well (which was a bit of a challenge!). I managed to use them a little around Bella’s eyes and nose for the finer details, but overall, this piece was all about embracing the soft pastels.
