Exciting News!

I’m thrilled (and honestly, a little nervous!) to announce that I’ll be exhibiting two of my artworks at the Association of Animal Artists Autumn Exhibition in Richmond, Yorkshire! 🎨 This is my first exhibition EVER, and it feels surreal to finally be putting my art out there for the world to see.

The two pieces I’m submitting are titled “Maternal Love” and “Alpha Male”. Both were created in pastels from photographs of my husband Steve’s stockpile of photos (I have to say, having a husband who’s a photographer is pretty handy!). Both pieces feature primates, one of my absolute favourite subjects to paint. They’re our closest relatives in the animal kingdom, and I just can’t get enough of their fascinating, expressive features. Their faces are so intriguing, every line and detail tells a story – I could look at them for hours! 🐒❤️

It’s taken me a long time to take this leap – I used to wonder if my art was "good enough" for someone to want to buy! But my passion for both art and animals won out, and now here I am, sharing my creations with the world. 🌟

Being an artist can feel lonely at times, but being part of the Association of Animal Artists (AAA) has given me so much in terms of support, guidance, and friendships. These connections are crucial, especially when you’re starting out later in life. One thing about diving into a professional art career a little later? There’s no time to dilly-dally — you know this is it, and you just go for it! 🙌

In the new year, I’m hoping to have more time to focus on my personal projects (non-commissioned pieces) and prepare for more exhibitions. While I love doing commissions, there’s something wonderfully freeing about working on a piece that’s entirely my own vision – no deadlines, no pressure, just pure creativity! I’d love to be selected for more exhibitions in the future – fingers crossed this is just the beginning! 🤞✨

If you’re in Richmond, come by and check out my work! I’d love to share this exciting moment with you!
