What Is Art & Color 365 Magazine?
Art & Color 365 is an international art magazine that runs themed competitions open to artists from all over the world. Artists are selected from a global pool, and chosen works are featured in the magazine and online exhibitions. Being recognised by a publication like this felt a bit surreal — and also a real confidence boost, especially on the days when self-doubt creeps in (as it does for most creatives).
Becoming a Professional Artist at 55
Although I’ve been making art all my life, I didn’t take it up professionally until the age of 55. Before that, my working life was full and varied — I spent many years as a Pilates and Yoga teacher and still teach a few classes a week. I also worked as a hypnotherapist. Art was always there in the background, but it took time (and a bit of courage) to finally give it the space it deserved. To have my work recognised now, on an international level, feels incredibly affirming.
Following Your Passion — It’s Never Too Late
I know there are so many people who feel it’s “too late” to change direction or follow a passion. I’m living proof that it isn’t. Creativity doesn’t come with an age limit — and neither does growth. I’ll share another update once I hear more, but for now I’m just quietly grateful — and very encouraged — to keep doing what I love. Thank you, as always, for being part of the journey.
It’s been a while since I last wrote a blog (back in October!), but I’ve got some lovely news that felt worth sharing.
A few weeks ago, I received an email that genuinely made my day — and then kept me smiling for quite a while afterwards. I’ve been short-listed for an award by Art & Color 365 Magazine in their animal and wildlife art competition. I should find out by January 19th exactly which one of my entries has been selected.
This is my very first “award” of any kind, and while we don’t create art for awards, it’s incredibly encouraging when your work is noticed by a respected body within the art world. I was properly chuffed when that email landed in my inbox — a quiet little fist pump may have happened!
